Bio
Alex Spalding (b. 1985, Springfield, MO) is a self-taught figurative painter specializing in expressive, graphic-inspired portraiture of women in a series called "Wild Side", drawing from his love for commercial illustration and contemporary art.
Before dedicating himself to the visual arts in 2023, Alex was immersed in a diverse range of creative pursuits, including dance music, managing indie record labels, and writing. This multidisciplinary background continues to inform the eclectic style of his work today.
In 2025, he completed and published a poetry collection, ThurhmÅnath. In 2026, he became artist in residence at Park Towne Place, Philadelphia, PA, and began expanding into curating shows for other artists. Alex currently lives and works in Philadelphia, PA.
